Marcus Aurelius: A Roman Emperor from 161 to 180. He ruled with Lucius Verus as co-emperor from 161 until Verus’ death in 169. He was the last of the Five Good Emperors and is considered one of the most important Stoic philosophers.

Writing, for me, comes somewhat effortlessly. It’s like being fluent in a given language, art or skill.

 

However, if or when, it feels like work rather than time spent in quiet introspection, then it’s no longer fun. The writing gives body and life to one’s thoughts. It’s a way of dealing with, what I consider a constant, non-stop information gathering and dissemination process.

In so doing, writing provides a way of slowing things down – long enough, to sort and catergorise and index the numerous bits and bytes of information that we immerse ourselves on a daily basis..
